World AIDS Day

If you're awake today you know it's World AIDS Day.  It's amazing how so much of the stigma of the disease is forgotten on this day every year.  It makes me want to cry looking at the numbers of new cases every year.  Most people think it's a gay disease and they don't have to think about it because they don't "live that lifestyle".  It's time to wake up people!  Over 1000 babies are infected every year, most new adult infections are happening in black women, and about 30% of new infections are in heterosexuals!  Do you need to think about it now?  Maybe you don't want to be an activist on the steps of Washington, maybe you don't want to wear red today, maybe you don't want to post anything on your Facebook.....but if there's only one thing you do to be aware and fight toward ZERO new infections, ZERO discrimination, ZERO AIDS-related deaths...protect yourself!  Protecting yourself means having protected sex, knowing your partners, and getting tested regularly.  No more excuses, just do it!!!
